2022 Spring Math Program

2022 Spring Math Program info and the group class schedule are ready for you to view.

ALL group and private sessions are VIRTUAL from now on. Assignment packets will be emailed one week before the session.

  • One FREE session PLUS the Registration fee is WAIVED to students who sign up for the entire program and pay in full by November 21, 2021 
  • The Registration fee is WAIVED to students who sign up for the entire program and pay in full by December 5, 2021 


2021 Summer and Fall Programs

For 2021 Summer Group Classes: Will take a break for 2021 summer.  I think we all need and deserve a nice break to spend some time with family and going outdoors 🙂    For Private Sessions, let’s take one month (June) off. Please text me in July when the student is ready to resume private sessions.

For 2021 Fall Group Classes: 2021 Fall Math Program info and the group class schedule are ready for you to view. By July 10th, we will decide if the class will stay or not and will email parents to confirm no later than July 12th


Virtual for ALL Group and Private Sessions

MathPlus has been going virtual since March 2020 and will continue going virtual.  There are pros and cons for virtual sessions.   Some like it and some don’t.   The reasons are all understandable.  

Here are some pros:

a) With Skype sessions, we cover way more (double or triple) problems/examples than before. 

Time is used very effectively with Skype sessions.  When in classroom, I write on the white board as I talk, erase the board multiple times after students copied the work in their notebook.  We also ask students to do a couple of problems, etc.  We spend time waiting … wait for all students to get ready, wait for most of the students to complete some problems or done copying, etc.

b) All screenshots are available on Skype for one week.

I spent HOURS in advance to write all material/problems/examples/graphs (step-by-step), take screenshots.  Students copy them down in their notebook BEFORE or AFTER the session.  There is no waiting time … copying and erasing, etc.

c) Questions are not limited to the classroom time.

Before, we can only answer questions in classroom.  Now, they can ask any question (including school material) any day and time of the week. 

d) Parents know EXACTLY what are covered in the class.

Before, often, parents would ask if they could sit in the class to listen so that they could help their child at home, if needed.

e) Parents don’t need to rush back from work, struggle and risk with the heavy traffic.

Indeed, there are pros and cons for Virtual vs in person.   There is no right or wrong.  It’s simply a personal choice.   MathPlus will continue Virtual sessions for both group and private.    Thank You 🙂


5R4A Skype Full Session on 3/26 @5:35 pm

Plan:
a) Students can/should start week 11 homework and try to complete as much as possible.
b) 3/26 @5:35 pm – we’ll have a full-hour Skype session.
c) Week 12 packet will be emailed to parents on 3/26 after the Skype session.
d) If Skype sessions don’t work for your child, please send me an email after Skype session (by 10 pm on 3/26) to stop me from sending you future packets.

On 3/26, we will do the following …
a) talk about GCF, LCM (p.1 #9, #10, #23), WP (p2. #4 and #8)
b) talk about Word Problems – (p.170 #2), (p.196 #10), parallel lines (p.194 #4)
c) answer questions

Alg II Skype Full Session on 3/23 @7:10 pm

Plan:
a) Students can/should start the review-1 packet and try to complete as much as possible – up to #19. They can also go all the way to #24.
b) 3/23 @7:10 pm – we’ll have a full-hour Skype session.
c) Review-2 packet will be emailed to parents on 3/23 after the Skype session.
d) If Skype sessions don’t work for your child, please send me an email after Skype session (by 10 pm on 3/23) to stop me from sending you future packets.

On 3/23, we will do the following …
a) talk about (#1, 2, 9, 11, 14, 16, 18, 19)
b) answer questions (feel free to text or email me)
